About Denis Simon

Hi, I'm Denis and I love to paint! It gives me the opportunity to live out my fascination of the beauty of the world and capture emotional moments for myself and those around me.

For over ten years now, I have been gripped by a passion and inspiration for painting and strive daily to improve my craft. Each painting is a new project with challenges and hurdles, but a rewarding experience always awaits in the end, providing continued inspiration for my future works.

Originally born in Kazakhstan, my parents moved to Germany when i was a year old. Here I spent some of my free time attending a casual art club for children as a young boy, which early awakened the artistic-creative interest in me. From then on, drawing was my favourite pastime at school and at home I worked with canvases and acrylics.

Of course, teenager me was busy with many things other than just my artistic development, which at that time i considered to be just a fun hobby.

The people around me convinced and also inspired me to resume my artistic work. I began learning about and teaching myself many of the techniques necessary to create the paintings I envisioned. There is still much to learn, but ultimately, that's why I love this beautiful craft.

My paintings reflect my personal feelings, which affects both the choice of subjects and their representation. Thus, I have put an ever-growing number of different styles and subjects on canvases. Among them large, imposing landscapes, dreamy idylls, portraits, animals and abstractions. In my realistic works, I strive for a convincing representation of nature, using my knowledge of natural colors, shapes, textures and play of light to ultimately break through the limitations of the two-dimensional surface.

After finishing school, I graduated in IT and currently work as a Cloud System Architect. I live, work and paint in the city of Oldenburg, situated in the north of Germany and close to the North Sea coast.
